Home - Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics to receive $50 million dollars in Waterloo ,Ontario.

Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics is a basic research centre dedicated to exploring the world around us at its most fundamental level. It began in the summer of 1999 when Mike Lazaridis, founder and Co-CEO of Research In Motion (RIM) - maker of the successful BlackBerryTM - found himself in a position to help foster research and innovation in Canada by establishing a world-class institute devoted to theoretical physics. Research
Since research operations began in the fall of 2001, the Institute has grown to include over 80 resident researchers who are involved in day-to-day operations. Additionally, the vigorous Visitor Program has enabled PI to host hundreds of international researchers each year for collaborations and workshops. The current groups involved with cross-disciplinary research include Condensed Matter, Cosmology & Gravitation, Particle Physics, Quantum Foundations, Quantum Gravity, Quantum Information Theory, Superstring Theory and related areas. You can learn more about the science at What We Research. PI also develops future generations of scientists through the innovative Perimeter Scholars International. This research training program exposes rising talent from around the world to the full spectrum of theoretical physics, bringing them rapidly to the leading edge of current research.

Outreach
